Our Root
Culture is at the heart of everything we do, not just the context of our work.
At Onyx Culture Collective, we have always believed that all struggles for justice are embedded in the culture each fight moves through. Our communities bear the same scars. The legacy of colonialism, Economic inequality, systemic marginalization and oppresSion, and the suppression of our collective voice; however, healing and organizing look completely different based on the cultural context of our communities' experiences, the burdens we carry, and how we interpret this world.
There are millions of Third-Culture people around the globe and in the United States who are currently navigating life across two or more worlds, with multiple cultures, languages, and interpretations of self. The diversity of cultures within our communities has never been greater. No person is singular. There will be no change without recognition of this truth.
Therefore, we meet people where they are, culturally, historically, and collectively. We integrate education and movement building into spaces that feel authentic to the individuals involved. We do not provide justice; Instead, we create the relationship(s) by which people can identify and obtain justice for themselves.
Onyx Culture Collective was created because there is a fundamental difference between using culture-centered organizing as an approach and recognizing that culture-centered organizing is the process by which liberation becomes recognizable as your own.

Our Mission
To cultivate conditions where culture is never an afterthought, it is the center.
Our VISION
A future where no community has to abandon who they are to access justice. Where culture is not the price of admission, it is the point of entry.
